In the immediate vicinity of Huckworthy Bridge, prospecting trials were carried out on a number of other lodes. Among these was Wheal Collier, where in 1846 a deep cross-cut adit was being driven north from the Walkham River to intersect the lodes of the Huckworthy Bridge Mine.
