Mark Bawden describes how a labourer digging up stones discovered white ashes.

Bawden describes the find as "a large, square, smooth stone, upon turning it over there appeared a circle on the underside. When taking up another small round stone there was an earthen pot half full of what to ye eye appeared like white ashes, but in ye fingers felt greasy like soap".
