The mansion was built on the site of an earlier house belonging to the Woollcombe family, but this was burnt down on 18th August, 1877. The mansion has now been demolished and all that remains is a wall and tiled floor, the latter consists of black and red tiles and yellow and black decorated tiles. The reverse reads 'Maw & Co. , Benthall Broseley', a Shropshire firm near Ironbridge. The estate buildings are extant. The laundry is now a farmhouse, and the drying yard, stables, coach houses etc. are now much used as farm buildings. There are some cob walls round the garden and some cob and stone has been used in the buildings otherwise the buildings are of local stone. The farmer has some photographs (post cards) of the house, by Chapman, Dawlish and Elliott-Merton.
