An approximately heart shaped earthwork depression circa 65m by 55m is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. Curvilinear banks and a ditch are visible leading from the depression to the road to the north-west. The depression corresponds with a pit recorded on the Tithe Map. It is depicted on the First and Second Edition OS maps as an 'Old Marl Pit'. The banks and ditch partially correspond with a field boundary depicted on historic maps. The earthworks are interpreted as a marl pit of post-medieval to 19th century origin, that ceased extraction by the end of the 19th century, with an access track to the north-west.
