An approximately circular earthwork depression circa 35m across is visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The depression corresponds with an 'Old Marl Pit' depicted on historic Ordnance Survey maps and abutts the road on its south-east side. It is interpreted as a marl pit of post-medieval to 19th century origin, that ceased extraction by the late-19th century.
