Three adjacent roadside milestones set in middle of stone wall approx 18m west of Lambert Lane Junction. Three adjacent inscribed roadside milestones. Late 18th - early 19th century. Granite and Portland stone. All plain slabs with elliptical heads. On left a broad granite stone inscribed 'Exeter 11 Miles, 2 Furlongs, 82 Poles'. Central narrow stone of Portland stone inscribed '11 Miles, 38 Poles from the Centre of Exe Bridge'. Right side a narrow stone of Portland stone inscribed 'Here Ends Exeter Trust'. Two of these are Turnpike Trust milestones.

(04/08/2004) Three remarkable milestones set in wall opposite Oak Beam Cottage, Crockernwell, which marked the change over of responsibility between the Exeter and Okehampton Turnpike Trusts. The first, of light faced granite, is worn. The first part of the legend, 'To Okehampton 11 Miles 2 Furlongs 32 Poles, is missing. The centre stone, of whitewashed granite, reads 11 Miles 39 Poles From the Centre of Exe Bridge. The third stone is also of whitewashed granite. The incised legend is worn. It reads 'Here Ends Exeter Trust'. The stones are thought to date from the c1820s when road improvements occurred..
