Name:Hut C in settlement 1180 metres south of North Hessary Tor

Summary

Hut circle has simple plan and double orthostat walling. Internal diameter 7.2 metres, wall 2.3 metres wide, 1.1 metres high. Doorway to south, lined on both sides with slabs, more recent compartment built against inside north-west wall measures 4.0 metres by 2.9 metres, defined by rubble wall 1.2 wide, 0.3 metres high. May represent a smaller hut built within main structure - paralleling those seen on Holne Moor.

One of a group of six 'Hut Circles' shown on 19th century map.

One of a group of nine hut circles, south of the track of an old railway.
(24/8/1950) Hut C (SX5773 7305). Of double walled type, diameter 8.0 metres, walls 2.0 metres wide, 0.5 metres high, two very large stones built into the south side. Condition good - entrance to the south.

Hut circle terraced into hillslope at SX577 27305. Simple plan and double orthostat walling. Internal diameter 7.2 metres, wall 2.3 metres wide, 1.1 metres high.
Doorway to south, lined on both sides with slabs, more recent compartment built against inside north-west wall measures 4.0 metres by 2.9 metres, defined by rubble wall 1.2 wide, 0.3 metres high. May represent a smaller hut built within main structure - paralleling Site F, Holne Moor (see A. Fleming, 1988).

Butler's hut 3; one of the larger buildings, this has an internal wall.
One of twelve hut circles lie in an exposed position just below the Princetown Railway track. Partially explored by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee they had previously been much pulled about by stone cutters.
