Devon County Council, Devon Air Photograph Transcriptions (Cartographic). SDV344181.

Curvilinear features have been transcribed.

WEDDELL + REED, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV74691.

Geophysical survey in september 1993 showed extremely high magnetic susceptibility readings in this field (weddell + reed).

DPRFP, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV262469.

Vis=6/11/1987 (robinson) 22/12/1987 (griffith and robinson) level field, nothing visible (dprfp).

AP, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV316761.

Part circular single ditched enclosure recorded from the air (ap).

OA, Untitled Source (Report - Survey). SDV316764.

Vis=-/9/1993 (oxford archaeotechnics) extremely high magnetic susceptibility in w half of field containing known cropmark not in precise location plotted from aerial photographs. Augering showed extra depth of soils, together with some charcoal. Magnetometry detailed underlying linear features and a possible pit. Soils have been spread and contained against former agricultural boundary and enhancement probably represents true focus of archaeological activity (oa).

Untitled Source (Aerial Photograph). SDV316765.

Cockcroft, T., 2021, Brokenbury Solar Farm, Churston, Torbay, Devon: Geophysical Survey (Report - Geophysical Survey). SDV364613.

SUMO Geophysics Ltd were commissioned to undertake a geophysical survey of an area outlined for development. This survey forms part of an archaeological investigation being undertaken by Cotswold Archaeology Limited on behalf of Torbay Council.

A magnetometer survey of 6.6 ha of land at Brokenbury, Churston has recorded a curving ditch-like responses in the north-west of Area 1. These anomalies would appear to
correspond with the location of an enclosure that was identified through analysis of aerial photographs. Therefore, the magnetic response has been categorised as being Probable Archaeology. A clear break in the ditch has been detected in the west, which could indicate a possible entrance to the enclosure. In places the underlying geology has made it difficult to distinguish between anomalies of archaeological interest and those with anatural origin (see 5.5). As a consequence, it has not been possible to determine whether there are anomalies of archaeological interest within the enclosure.
