Summary

Hut circle terraced into hillslope. Simple plan and rubble bank walling. Oval. Internal measurements 4.5 metres by 3.0 metres. Wall 1.6 metres wide, 0.6 metres high. Doorway survives as a gap in south-south-east wall.

Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1950, SX57SE26, G (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV225907.

Hut circle G. One of a group of nine hut circles, south of the track of an old railway.
(24/8/1950) Hut G (SX5770 7307). Double walled type diameter 5.0 metres, wall width 1.25 metres, 0.4 metres high, small, composed of turf covered stones. Condition fair; entrance on the south-east side.

Butler's Hut 7 (4.2 by 3.5 metres diameter) is oval in shape.
One of twelve hut circles lie in an exposed position just below the Princetown Railway track. Partially explored by the Dartmoor Exploration Committee they had previously been much pulled about by stone cutters.
