A large axe-hammer, 222mm x 88mm x 48mm deep, shaft hole 35mm diameter, was found in scrap iron 'near whiddon down' in the late 1960's. The stone is not identified, but described as 'very dark, almost black. ' weight 3lb 12oz.(drawing).
