Cropmarks of levelled ditches interpreted as a possible former medieval field boundary are visible on oblique aerial photographs taken in 1984, to the east of Higher Beara Cross, Staverton. The two cropmarks form part of a single east to west and slight curvilinear ditch. The cropmarks broadly respect the historic field patterns shown in this location on the 1845 Parish Tithe map characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields, although do not correspond with any field boundaries shown on this map or on subsequent available historic maps. This supports the interpretation that the possible field boundary had passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
