Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Hut circle shown on 19th century map.

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1980, SX57SE28, SX57SE28 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV220805.

Site visited on 28th August 1950. One of a group of four hut circles, south-west of Devil's Bridge. Hut 'C' of a single circle of stones although one or two outside suggest possibility of having been a double walled type. Very much despoiled to south and east and no indication of an entrance. Condition poor. Diameter 5.8 metres with walls 0.4 metres high. Consists of large earthbound stones, the largest one of which forms part of the wall to the western extreme.

Site visited on 8th October 1992. Hut circle attached to an enclosure. Terraced into the hillslope, and of the simple plan and rubble bank walling type. The interior measures 4.2 metres in diameter and is defined by a 1.0 metres wide wall standing up to 0.2 metres high.

Visited 09 July 2019. Sx 57785 72657. Previously described as "much despoiled" and "poor condition" but appart from slight livestock evidence this hut was in good overall condition. Although the south and east side did not have large stones there were obvious smaller stones in situ. Photo taken

This monument includes an irregular shaped enclosure containing six stone hut circles situated on a gentle south-facing slope overlooking the valley of the River Meavy.
