Cropmarks of linear ditches on average circa 2.5m wide are visible on aerial photographs of 1985 on the summit of a north-east facing spur, to the north and south of Holcombe Down Road.
The ditches appear to define a roughly rectilinear enclosed area approximately 65 long, aligned roughly along the north-east facing spur, and up to 50m wide. A partial cropmark of an L-shaped ditch visible for 27m, circa 4 to 8m south and west of the south-west corner of the enclosure, might support an interpretation of a second external enclosure ditch. The section of cropmark ditch visible to the north of Holcombe Down Road, defining the north-west corner of the enclosure might be aligned more closely on this possible outer ditch, perhaps supporting the interpretation of this as a double ditched enclosure, with an as yet undefined inner circuit, probably of later prehistoric date.
Cropmarks of curvilinear ditches and banks are visible to the west of the enclosure, and are recorded separately.
