Bottor was mentioned as 'Bodetorre' in 1238, 'Bottetorre' in 1306, 'Bottorre' in 1330 and 'Westbottore' in 1414.

Bottor farmhouse. Late 16th or 17th century. Solid roughcast walls. Concrete tiled roofs. Granite ashlar stacks, with weatherings and tapered tops, on ridge off-centre to right and on gable of rear wing. Another large stack, rendered, on right-hand gable of main range, L-shaped plan Two storeys. Irregular 4-window front. Small-paned 19th century wood casements, except for two 20th century metal-framed windows to left of second storey. Single-storey projection of 20th century, including doorway, at right-hand end of ground storey. Interior not inspected.
