Full description

Department of Environment, 1988, Dolton, 52 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV598.

Blandford House.
Small house. C17 or possibly earlier. Plastered cob walls. Thatch roof, hipped to right end, gabled to left where it is attached. Projecting plastered stack at right-hand end with brick shaft. Rubble rear lateral stack.
Plan: at present 2-room plan but may have extended to left into adjoining property. Right-hand room heated by end stack, left-hand one by rear lateral stack and has a stair projecting at the front of it.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 2-window front, one is to the rectangular stair projection to left of centre. Circa early c20 2-light small-paned casements. C20 part-glazed door in small leanto porch to left of stair projection.
Interior: inaccessible at time of survey. The house preserves a traditional external appearance and is likely to contain internal features of interest.
