Full description

Department of Environment, 1988, Dolton, 50 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV598.

Wheelwright's Cottage.
Small house. Circa late C17 or early C18 with C20 alterations. Rendered cob walls. Thatch roof gabled to right end, hipped to left. Brick stack at right gable-end.
Plan: obscured by C20 alterations but probably 2 or 3 plan originally with larger heated room at the right end.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 1-window front, 3 to ground floor. Late C19 4-pane sash to left of centre on 1st floor. C20 1-light casements on ground floor to left of centre and to right. C20 former shop window to left. Small C20 leanto/porch in front of left-hand end with plank doors. C20 thatch roof porch to right of centre with late C20 part-glazed door.
Interior: inaccessible at time of survey.
