Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.

Ash house appears to have been depicted on the early 20th century historic map, although it is not shown on the 1840s Tithe Map, or the late 19th century Ordnance Survey historic map. It is also not depicted on the 1930s Ordnance Survey map.

Ash house. C19 or earlier. Granite rubble. Conical stone roof with covering of C20 thatch. Round building. Doorway at front has lintel and jambs of large pieces of granite; plank door with strap-hinges. At rear a small opening, with wrought- iron door, presumably for inserting the ashes. Interior has been plastered.
