Name:Hut F in settlement on Walkhampton Common

Summary

Hut circle 7.0 metres in diameter, with internal subdivision. Single orthostat and earthwork wall 0.7 metres wide, 0.7 metres high. The partition leading through the centre of this hut survives as a line of stones set on edge standing up to 0.2 metres high. Grass and gorse cover. Lies directly under electricity supply wires leading to Princetown.

Group of seven 'Hut Circles' shown on 19th century map.

Hut F (SX5710 7246). Double walled type, 8.5 metres in diameters, wall width 1.5 metres, height 0.5 metres. Large and composed of large partly turf-covered rocks. The north-east quadrant of the wall has been destroyed. Condition fairly good. Entrance on southern side.

Stone hut circle forming part of an unenclosed prehistoric settlement on Walkhampton Common lying 1050 metres south-west of Devil's Bridge.

Hut circle '3' of 5.5 metresby 4.5 metres at 'Walkhampton Common North 3' unenclosed settlement. The oval shape of the hut is probably the result of the upper walls collapsing down the slope.
