Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Map object based on this source.

Unknown, 1841, Landkey (Cartographic). SDV71429.

Fields named Higher Castle Park (743) and Lower Castle Park (744) on Tithe Map and Apportionment.

Royal Air Force, 1946 - 1949, Royal Air Force Aerial Photographs (Aerial Photograph). SDV342938.

No evidence of crop mark area as referred to by the Devon Committee for Rescue Archaeology on Royal Air Force aerial photograph. The area, however, crosses a former field boundary and it may relate to this. Other linear crop marks showing in the two adjoining fields appear to be former boundaries as shown on the Tithe Map.

Balkwill, C. J., 1976, Barnstaple By-Pass, No 2 (Report - Survey). SDV71430.

Now one field. The site is an unlikely one for a defensive earthwork although a hillslope enclosure is possible.
