Summary

Linhay. In the mid c19 an orchard, linhay and court(yard) lay directly opposite the track that led to braddicks homestead (present in the c18) - see attached diagram to worksheet. The linhay appears to post-date a 1797 map, but had disappeared by the end of the c19 (goodyear).

DBA undertaken along a corridor associated with the A30/A303 between Honiton and Devonshire Inn. This study is intended to inform the development of options for improvements to the A30/A303 between Honiton and Devonshire Inn.

The survey also noted the ruined remains of four Linhays (a form of open sided cattle barn common in Devon) all of which are depicted on the Tithe Maps of the 1840s (Figure 21 & 3-6, WA 109, 126).
