Field Shaft is eastern of the two main shafts on the Main Lode at Wheal Anna Maria & is shown on the 1857 & later maps. The 1867 map shows the balance bob on the southern side of the shaft & the capstan to the east. The shaft was used to remove copper ore & to pump the underground workings.. The survey found the area had been landscaped removing traces of the shaft although a 3m circular depression marked the site of the capstan. Other details: Site 153.
