Summary

Vis=22/3/1990 (robinson) site occupies a gentle s slope. Nothing visible in open field but a slight curve and thickening in the bank to the s may represent the s side of the enclosure (dprfp).

A dark curvilinear cropmark circa 2 metres in width is visible on specialist oblique aerial photographs taken between 1984 and 1994. It appears to enclose an area of just under 50 by 50 metres, with a gap of approximately 4 metres in the northern edge that may have been an entranceway. It is interpreted as having formed over the remains of the infilled enclosure ditch of a later prehistoric or Roman period enclosure.
Many of the aerial photographs consulted are copies of DAPs held by the Historic England Archive. These have been recorded here as additional separate sources because there is a possibility that the prints may have been processed differently. This would potentially result in images on which archaeological features show slightly differently.
