Summary

A large medieval strip field system is depicted on the Woodbury parish tithe map of approximately 1838-48, to the northwest of Woodbury Salterton. A number of additional earthwork ditches of relict strip field boundaries are also visible on aerial photographs of 1963 and Lidar-derived images of 2005.

The field boundaries, a number of which are extant, are north to south aligned and occupy an area of approximately 55 hectares of gentle north facing slope.
