‘Old Gravel Pit’ depicted on Ordnance Survey 1:10560 maps of 1890 and 1938 (Sheet 81SE), with another some 200 metres to the east. At SY 06027 89015 (approximate position of eastern pit) on south side of bridle path, is a broad, shallow quarry pit, circa 20 metres by 15 metres by 1 metre deep. Feature covered in recently cut bracken.
