The Ordnance Survey 1890 map depicts a pit marked ‘Old Gravel Pit’ in an enclosed area containing three fields, to the west of Woolcombe’s Plantation. As this enclosed area was excluded from the survey it is not known if the pit still exists. The SMR records that no pit workings were shown on the Ordnance Survey1:10560 map of 1972. There was a mill in this enclosure on the Tithe Map (see site 627).
