‘Old Gravel Pit’ shown on Ordnance Survey 1890 1:10560 map (Sheet 81SE); also on Ordnance Survey maps of 1906 and 1972 (SMR). As this area of the Venn Ottery Tithe Map (1839) is blank (not subject to tithes) it is not known if the gravel pit existed at this time. On the ground rectangular pit, measures circa 20 metres northwest -southeast by circa 30 metres northeast-southwest by circa 5 metres deep. Feature on southeast slope of southeast edge Venn Ottery Hill, contains bracken, gorse and single holly tree.
