Colcombe marked. The site includes Colcombe Castle (Remains of), Terraces, Gate house (Remains of) and St John's Chapel (Site of). A water course, with a sluice gate is also shown running through the site.

Colcombe marked as the remains of a Castle. As with the 1880s-90s map the gatehouse, chapel and terraces are shown.

Colcombe is first mentioned in the Calendar of the Inquisitions Miscellaneous of 1325.

Colcombe was built in the 13th century. Now partly a farm but mostly ruinous.

House first built by the Courtenays in the 13th century and rebuilt as Colcombe Castle in the 16th century.

There are several buildings in the vicinity of Colyton that have significant architectural or historic links with the town. An important former seat is Colcombe Castle, the remains of which are now incorporated into a farm about half a mile to the north.
