Row of three pits each marked 'Old Chalk Pit' shown to north of Combe Road on Ordnance Survey 1891 map. Central pit at NGR given with pit to east at 2812 9073 and pit to west at 2787 9073. The two eastern pits are recorded on SMR as shown on Ordnance Survey maps of 1906 and 1963; these are still marked on modern map.

An 'Old Chalk Pit' is shown on the First and Second Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey maps. The location of this quarry coincides with a 'Coppice' within plot 110 on the Axmouth Tithe Map of 1842. The site is still present on the Ordnance Survey Master Map, although it is now labelled as a 'Pit (disused).'
