Wills, H., 1985, Pillboxes. A Study of UK Defences 1940, 74 (Monograph). SDV336210.

Wills lists a pillbox of local design, south-east facing and of mixed construction materials at SY231891.

Hellis comments that use was made of existing walls during the Second World War which were used or extended to create disguised pill boxes. At Beer the wall by the road to the beach had a false front in order to disguise it.

Site visit 23rd June 1996. Rectangular pillbox covered with Beer stone and flints, forming a false front to the sea wall. Now covered with flagstones to create a public area. Other details: Photos

During the Second World War, this pillbox guarded the only exit from the beach in this region. Now it is part of a platform structure.
