A small copse is shown within plot 45 on the Axmouth Tithe Map of 1842 that coincides with the location of a clay pit on later Ordnance Survey maps. The old clay pit is illustrated and labelled on both the First and Second Edition 25 inch Ordnance Survey maps, but the quarry is not illustrated on the Ordnance Survey Master Map.
