Full description

Humphreys, C., Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV36356.

A survey undertaken in 2003 found the limekiln set in the bank of the loading ramp with an archaed entrance to the flues on the east side. The kiln has an internal diameter of 7.5m x 1.5m high and the top was sunken and overgrown (humphreys).

Well preserved, although partially buried, limekiln. The kiln, which contains a colony of Lesser Horseshoe bats, lies within woodland and is currently being well conserved without active management. The biggest problem appears to be the grown of tree roots which could damage the structure.
