Full description
English Heritage, 2012, National Heritage List for England (National Heritage List for England). SDV348729.
Whiteway Chest Tombe about 11 metres north of the west wall of the tower of the Church of St. Michael. Circa mid 19th century. Freestone chest with hollow-chamfered plinth, oversailing lid and reeded corner pilasters. The earliest inscription, on the lid, is illegible; a later inscription on the north side commemorates Walter Whiteway, died 185- (last figure illegible). The chest tomb was formerly surrounded by iron railings. Date listed: 28th April 1987.
