Summary
Milestone inscribed NEWTON 12 BOVEY 6 2 0 MORETON 0 2 0. The Newton Bushel Turnpike who set up the stone circa 1826 favoured measuring the distances in miles, furlongs and poles which accounts for the three sets of figures seen on their stones.

Milestone marked as MORETON HAMPSTEAD 1/4 BOVEY TRACEY 6 1/4 M.S.
Jenkinson, T., 2004 - 2011, A382 Newton Abbot to Whiddon Down (Report - Survey). SDV338864.
Site visit 4th August 2003. Milestone dating from about 1826. Built into the wall on the east side of Station Road in Moretonhampstead, opposite Bowring Mead. Has suffered some minor damage and can get over grown in summer. The legend which has faded reads Newton/ 12/ Bovey/ 6.2.0/ Moreton/0.2.0.
