The curvilinear cropmark of a possible ditched enclosure of later prehistoric or Roman date is partially visible on aerial photographs on the south-east facing slopes overlooking the Exe valley, north-east of Bidwell Cottages and west of Batcombe Lane, Thorverton parish.
The cropmark is up to 2.5 metres wide and defines the western edge of an oval or teardrop shaped enclosure at least 62 metres long. The south-eastern extent of the enclosure cannot be seen. A very narrow curvilinear cropmark might be evidence for a circular enclosure, possibly a hut circle, within the enclosure, towards the south-westernend of the enclosed area.
