Dunsland cross. The site of a cross mentioned as a bond mark in a return of the boundaries of "the chase of okehampton" 1532-33. The name is applied to the crossroads, about 1.375km north of dunsland cross station, on the main road from holsworthy to highampton, about 6km east of holsworthy. Mr. Bickford dickinson of dunsland, when restoring an old cart shed at dunsland (jointed to the tudor wing of the house) found that one of the granite posts supporting the roof was a slender octagonal shaft, tapering upwards. Probably a cross shaft, possibly that of dunsland cross. It has been left in place. Mr. T. T. Humphreys, of the holsworthy association, took photographs of the shaft. Vis=7/11/1978 (os). No remains of a cross.
