Full description

South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.

Rectangular farm building fronting onto the road shown on the Tithe Map at Great Sloncombe; 697 on the apportionment.

By the later 19th century, a rear wing has been added to the barn, creating an L-shaped building.

Barn directly to north east of Great Sloncombe farmhouse.
Barn. Probably 18th century. Granite rubble walls with larger dressed quoins. Corrugated iron roof, half-hipped at either end. Long rectangular plan with off-centre threshing floor and small room to higher end divided off by solid wall.
Two storeys. Wide double doorway to right of centre and opposing one on rear wall. Small window opening towards left-hand end on ground floor. First floor loading doorway to right of main doorway. On right, lower, gable end is wide granite rubble buttress extending up to first floor height with small first floor window to its right and central owl hole at top of gable end wall.
Interior: contains heavy rough cross beams.
