Stranger and Sweet chest tombs including boundary railings approximately 20 meters south of church of St Peter in Zeal Monachorum. 2 adjoining chest tombs. One is dated 1811 in memory of Richard Stranger, the other is dated 1851 in memory of John Sweet, both enclosed with mid 19th century railings. The Stranger chest tomb to the north is built of brick with a plain Portland stone lid which is inscribed in bold serif capitals and records the death of Richard Stranger in 1811 and also his infant son who died the same year. The Sweet (southern) chest tomb is built wholly of Portland stone. It has a moulded plinth, a low-pitched and hipped lid and pilasters on each corner. It is inscribed on the east end in plain capitals and serif Italics after Gothic 'Sacred' and records the death of John Sweet of Burstone in 1851. Both are enclosed by cast-iron spear railings with corner shafts with vase caps.
