Full description

Department of Environment, 1985, Puddington, 142 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV43510.

Cottage. Probably mid C19. Plastered cob and rubble; rubble stack with C19 and C20 brick chimney shaft; thatched roof. 2-room plan cottage facing south-west with central axial stack serving back-to-back fireplaces. Service outshots to rear. 2 storeys. Gothick cottage ornee. Irregular frontage has 1 ground floor window towards left (north-west) end, a 3-light casement containing rectangular panes of- leaded glass. 3 first-floor windows have triangular heads projecting into eaves with small thatched gables over. All have 2 triangular headed lights but contain different glazing. Left end has small rectangular panes of leaded glass and centre has larger rectangular panes of leaded glass; both have heads filled with tiny diamond panes of leaded glass. Right window serving stairs has overall lattice pattern of tiny diamond-panes of leaded glass, many of them tinted green. Plank door at right end with hipped and thatch-roofed porch and plain posts on low side sleeper walls. Roof is gable-ended to right, hipped to left. Right end has late C19-early C20 casements with glazing bars and left end has a ground floor 3-light casement with rectangular panes of leaded glass. Much of leaded glass throughout is original crown panes. Interior not inspected.
