Old Combmartin Mine. One of 12 adits or shafts indicated by Claughton as having been sunk, reopened or worked in the 19th century. Other details: Includes map.


Claughton, P. F., 1992, Untitled Source, 3 (Monograph). SDV89408.

Director's shaft. Opened 1835 at the engine shaft of the 1813-17 working cutting the Old Combe Martin, or West lode at about 50 fathom level. Power for the pumps were transmitted from the engine at William's shaft (subsheet 1) by means of flat rods carried over the present intervening garden by a wooden trestle bridge.
