Two stone axes were found in 1966 in a load of topsoil delivered from a field on Blackdown (SX504796), to the garden of a new bungalow.
No. 1 is elongated, measures 9.3 inches long, 3 inches wide across the blade and 1.5 inches thick, it has a splayed cutting edge and relatively flat section. It was fashioned from metamorphic rock.
No.2 has been macroscopically identified as a dolerite, Neolithic in date. Mesaures 7.5 inches long, 2.75 inches wide and 1.7 inches thick.
