Full description
Department of Environment, 1987, Bampton, 27 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV54005.
No 5 Castle Street in Bampton. House. 18th century or earlier. Stone rubble probably originally stuccoed with slate roof, gabled at ends; 2 projecting rear lateral stacks. Plan: symmetrical 2 room single depth plan with central entrance and rear left outshut. Exterior: 2 storeys. 3 window front with central front door with a doorcase with pilasters and a cornice and further door, probably 20th century, to the right. 20th century window ground floor left; 4-light casement ground floor right; 2 and 3-light first floor casements. Interior: not inspected but may contain features of interest. No 5 is on a prominent corner site on the west side of Castle Street and forms a group with other listed buildings in the street.
