Nethercott was held by a thegn in 1066 and probably held by the Bishop of Coutances in 1086. The 1843 Braunton Tithe Apportionment shows that the Braunton Dean ecclesiastical estate, which was formed in 1225 included land at Nethercott and Upcott.
