Full description

Department of Environment, 1988, Talaton (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV341348.

Gate posts and railings approximately 4 metres south of Escot Front Lodge. Probably 1869, contemporary with nearby Escot Front Lodge (q.v.). Granite gate posts and cast iron into granite coping. The railings follow an S-course with terminal posts each end and a carriageway gate in the middle flanked by gate posts. The posts are monolithic blocks of granite, square in section with chamfered edges and low pyramid caps. There is here the original cast iron gate, 4-bays with crossbracing. There is a small pedestrian gateway at the south end. This is the gateway to the landscaped grounds of Escot Park.
