Summary

Alder quarry. Of a range of 3 kilns only one remains. The pot is half demolished, brick lined. Between lining and shale wall is a layer of mortar circa 12cm thick. Rounded archway. Two smaller stokeholes above the normal ground level one. The kiln is joined to a 3-storey building converted to modern dwelling. The ground floor was stabling/vehicle and store house (born).
