One of three, possibly four cisterns on the southern side of the fort, dated 1804-1807. Rectangular with a vaulted limestone slab roof. In good condition.

Full description

Pye, A.R. & Slater, W.D., 1990, Berry Head Fort, Brixham, An Archaeological Survey, 23, Fig. 12 (Report - Survey). SDV362493.

Cistern 1. Situated between Barracks 1 and 2. One of three, possibly four cisterns interspersed between the southern barrack blocks and the store building and dating from the same layout and construction1804-1807. All are rectangular in construction with a vaulted limestone roof. Cistern 1 is In very good condition.
