Full description

Langham, A. F., 1980, Anti-Aircraft Trenches on Lundy, 18 (Article in Serial). SDV16668.

German aircraft crashed on Lundy one afternoon in 1941 near Pondsbury. The crew escaped unhurt.

Just before the path reaches Halfway Wall there are the remains of a burnt-out German aircraft which made a forced landing in March 1941 after raid on Swansea. Little now remains. Other details: 101,091.

Site visit 15th May 1992. Approximate position of a Heinkel bomber which crashed during WWII. Two camshafts, a broken propellor and a length of tubing are visible.

In the centre of a D-shaped enclosure and 30 metres to the west of the Trinity House trackway, are the remains of a Heinkel 111 bomber which crash landed on Lundy in 1941.

Heinkel 111H bomber which crashed safely here on 3 March 1941 due to engine trouble. Before the crew surrendered they set the plane on fire.
