Full description

In 1575 land to the east of Fairfax Place was embanked and a quay constructed. The quay ran from a point circa 100 feet) east of the east end of St Saviours church, east for circa 100 feet, then south-east for circa 200 feet. The east end of the present Lloyds Bank is on the site of the quay.

Dartmouth's earliest quay was in the area now Fairfax Place. Boats also used to tie up at the church wall.
