Summary

Formerly identified (1985) as a prehistoric enclosure with hut circle and scheduled in 1992 as such, this feature was re-classified in 2006 as a probable medieval earthwork. The feature comprises an approximately square earthwork consisting of a 0.8 metre high bank.

Royal Air Force, 1946, RAF/CPE/UK/1890 (Aerial Photograph). SDV169268.

Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England, 1985, Aerial Photograph Project (Dartmoor) - Dartmoor Pre-NMP (Cartographic). SDV319854.

Hut circle lying across parallel reave (MDV25099). To the immediate west remains of enclosure partially enclosing the hut circle (identifed in 1985 from 1940s aerial photograph).

Ancient Monuments, 1992, Scheduled Monument Notification (Schedule Document). SDV227492.

Enclosure with hut circle. Abuts reave (MDV25099) on the west side. Diameter 36 metres; bank 1.0 metre wide by 0.4 metres high with entrance to south.
Hut in south-east angle between enclosure wall and reave. Diameter 6.0 metres; walls 0.5 metres wide, 0.75 metres high.

The ditch (MDV25099) is interupted at SX 5840 6812 by an approximately square earthwork consisting of a 0.8 metre high bank. The purpose of this feature is not known but it is not a prehistoric enclosure as recorded in 1992 at the time of scheduling.
