Full description

Department of Environment, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV335115.

Channon's farmhouse. C16 or earlier with later modifications. Rendered with gabled end slate roof. Originally a 3 room through passage plan.2 storeys with continuous volcanic trap rendered outshut under catslide roof (doe).

Channons farm is a c15 cob and slate three cell cross-passage house with a few c19 farm buildings. The farmhouse has smoke-blackened roof timbers + two jointed crucks exposed above the former hall. The farm is mentioned on a subsidy roll of 1542. On the 1881 census channons is called 'quicks'. The 325 acre farm was part of the killerton estate by 1783 (nt).
