Full description
Department of Environment, 1988, Monkleigh, 128 (List of Blds of Arch or Historic Interest). SDV13813.
Saltern chest tomb 4 meters to the southeast of the south door of the chancel at St George's parish church in Monkleigh. Late 17th century. Chest of coursed and squared slatestone with chamfered plinth; slate slab is scribed around top. Inscription commemorates Elizabeth Saltern, died 1669, and her daughter Susanna, died 1669.
